St. Andrew’s supports RamPacks through our packing team who regularly packs meal bags for students at one of the packing locations, through financial support and  food drives.

CROP Hunger Walk is more than just a gathering of people, it is a movement. CROP takes steps and raises funds to provide meals for those in our own community who need them and supports programs that create greater food security in communities all over the world.  St. Andrew’s supports the Pennridge CROP Hunger Walk each year by walking and supporting our walkers through donations to raise awareness about food insecurities.

God’s precious Children is a tuition sponsorship program for children in Liberia. Children in Liberia are educated as a luxury and tuition is often unsustainable for families. St. Andrew’s supports this mission through tuition sponsorships and annual education on the struggles of our Liberian brothers and sisters.

Back Bay Mission has a simple mission: to strengthen neighborhoods, seek justice, and transform lives.Through ministries like education and empowerment programs and housing rehabilitation programs Back Bay helps the people in the communities on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Back Bay assists communities in educating others about poverty and advocating for the marginalized in the communities they serve.  St. Andrew’s supports Back Bay Missions through sending mission teams every other Summer to Biloxi, Mississippi to assist in the work Back Bay is doing with their food pantry, home repair/building services, meal and social service day programs.

We hang 22 sets of dog tags each day to bear witness to the suicide rate amongst veterans and service members that is twice as high as their civilian counterparts. Two tags are hung on a twine in a set remembering two tags are worn so that a body of the fallen can be tracked and accounted for. We hang a set indicating the wearer had not been killed in action. Still the trauma of their experience brought a tragic end to their lives. We stand in silent witness that their lives are not forgotten and in hope of the day when peace will prevail. We witness from November 1-11th each year out front of St.Andrew’s. A service follows hanging of tags on November 11th.

Through a food collection of Thanksgiving dinner items baskets are put together for local community members who experience food insecurities or are facing challenges at the time. Baskets are delivered by St. Andrew’s member after they are assembled.

Pearl S. Buck International Child Sponsorship program provides vital support to children in need through nutrition, medical care, education, school supplies, and psycho-social programs that help provide hope, skills, and health. St. Andrew’s currently sponsors a child and receives letters and correspondences to learn more about the child we sponsor and their family.

Members of St. Andrew’s knit prayer shawls for those experiencing illness, challenges or struggles, loss of a friend or loved one, and anyone in need of prayer. We are blessed by our crafty individuals who share their gifts to create these soft, beautiful shawls. You can find prayer shawls throughout our building in the Welcome room and in our upstairs foyer.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. St. Andrew’s supports Operation Christmas Child by filling boxes and sending them each year before the Christmas season.

Through the many programs that Old First has for those who experience homelessness in Philadelphia we have supported through clothing donations, financial support, serving meals on Sunday evenings or for Saturday breakfast, serving at Urban Cupboard work camps, and hosting our own crazy sock Sunday once a year to raise awareness about the importance of clean socks and foot health for those whom are without a home while collecting socks. We continue to support Old First in their endeavors as they open Old First House and evolve their programing addressing homelessness.

Church World Service helps people to come together to help their neighbors through assembling a variety of kits and recovery resources following storms and weather events. Kits are assembled by churches from all across the country such as hygiene kits, clean up buckets, menstrual hygiene kits, clean up buckets and blankets. They delivered hope and dignity to families facing unimaginable challenges. Each kit prepared is a tangible expression of God’s love and care. St. Andrew’s supports this mission through assembling clean up buckets throughout the year.

Heeding God’s Call to end gun violence unites people of faith in the sacred responsibility to protect our brothers and sisters through public witness and advocacy. St. Andrew’s supports this mission through partnerships with Perkasie Mennonite Church to host The Memorial to the Lost, a memorial installation of t-shirts with names of those lost to gun violence. This witness is to honor victims of gun violence and their surviving families while advocating for gun reform.

Following Hurricane Katrina in 2006 St. Andrew’s became connect with Churches such as Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in the lower 9th ward. Over the years we have taken trips to be with our mission partners and assist in rebuilding and recovery in the lower 9th ward community. One of our trips consisted of creation of a community garden. We supported our mission partners through rebuilding.  We continue to maintain a partnership through prayer and fellowship.

Along the sidewalk of the front of our church is a little free library filled with books to give and take. Take a book, give a book, and let all enjoy literacy of all kinds!
